Summary | A regional police officer is prosecuting internet trolls that are hateful towards the traveller community online. Travellers are being more accepted and visible in communities and granted to stop but people are still very hateful towards them on the internet and on social media. This is especially harmful to children in the traveller community because it keeps them from taking pride in their heritage.

Summary | Cyberbullying, i.e. when people are bullied textually or with images over a digital platform, can be detrimental to teenagers' psyche. Especially since they are always available for notifications on their smartphones and because these digital tracks never disappear. It is important that parents keep an open line of communication with their children about this issue.

Summary | Internet culture's sense of humor has become careless. A meme was recently circulated in Pennsyvania that said that one could vote online by just commenting the name of their candidate. Even though this was a joke, it was dangerously close to disenfranchising people of their votes. In the same way some people post anti-semitic or racist/sexist things and then claim to just do it to combat the tyranny of political correctness and not really meaning any harm. Such content however promotes extremism and is harmful - no matter the intentions.

Facebook can now take down such images very quickly once they're reported and keep users from sharing such images again.

Summary | One Virginia county saw a huge Instagram sexting scandal break. Nude selfie of local high school and middle school girls were pooled by the local boys and uploaded to an Instagram account. Because many teenagers were involved, this case developed into a huge police investigation trying to figure out the extent to which this constitutes organized crime or child pornography. This case shows how commonplace sexting is among teenagers and how confused the police are in dealing with such cases.

Summary | Experts think that new social apps such as Snapchat are dangerous; they can encourage sexting and cyberbullying. Teenagers don't want to be on Facebook anymore because their parents and grandparents have a Facebook account. They want something more private; Snapchat is thus perfect. It's quick, simple, and 'snaps' disappear after a few seconds. However, Snapchat can be dangerous and encourage sexting and bullying. People still have time to take screenshots of snaps. Marc Masip, director of the psychological institute 'Desconect@' thinks that Snapchat does not bring anything good. It can lead teenagers to suicide or fear of going to class. Young people don't know anything about the risks of such platforms because nobody warned them. Parents should not give a phone to their kids under 13. When today's teenagers are 40, they will be used to communicate through a screen and won't have social skills to communicate face-to-face.
