Summary | Many people love voice messages because they just quickly want to share something that needs to be told rather than transformed into text. But it is not possible to listen to voice messages in all social situations like in a lecture. Now there are apps to help with that: textify and textr can transform voice messages into text so that one can discretely get the message if one cannot listen to it right then and there. The apps work for WhatsApp and most other similar messaging apps.

Summary | The new iPhone operational system has a couple of new updates. There will be a new control unit and user surface making the iPhone increasingly similar to a full Mac. The in-house messenger iMessage has a lot of new emojis and stickers and allows the users to be more creative with their texting. It is however still no threat to WhatsApp because only Apple users can use iMessage. Siri no also speaks a bunch of new languages: she will be able to translate English into German, Chinese, Spanish, French or Italian.

Summary | Mobile service providers in Germany have to change their marketing strategies because the market is changing. Fewer people are sending traditional SMS text messages and more people use WhatsApp or similar instant messaging services. Now, mobile service providers have to put everything on the resources they still control: mobile data. They are working on faster mobile data connections (5G).

Summary | The internet has brought humanity, especially younger generations a lot of stress. A lot more information is now available, for instance about what one could do, and that leads to a fear of missing out on something. People constantly have to check their smartphones so as not to miss a new viral video or a new thread in their WhatsApp chat about changing group hangout plans.

Summary | It is difficult to avoid WhatsApp because virtually everyone is using it. The app profits from allowing you to reach everyone. There have however been privacy issues in the past. Safer options are the free app Signal (even recommended by Edward Snowden) or Threema. Other must-have apps are sophisticated password organizing apps, clean-up apps that optimize one's storage as well as good web browsers.
